DYNAMIC DUO of John Shrout & Scott Edge
John Shrout:
I avoided FPV drones as much as possible at first, but after my first flight I was addicted. Passion turned to obsession and I was soon deeply immersed in the FPV community. I went from your local noob to helping facilitate the local drones racing chapters and more. This gave me the opportunity to meet and work with some great people in the sport and get the skills needed to start filming. I got invited to test out filming at The Texas Mile with Catalyst Machineworks and instantly got pulled into the sights, sounds and smells of Motorsports. I am not the biggest gear head by any means but there’s just something snot watching the action from our point of view! Now we are connected with some big names throughout all different kinds of adrenaline based activities. The journey to get where we are hasn’t been easy but when I look back at all that we’ve been involved with, I love it all!
Scott Edge:
I had a passion for large-scale radio-controlled airplanes and 3D freestyle flying. Back in 2010 it was anything Extreme Flight or 3D Hobby Shop, 50cc or 100cc gas powered. Thousands of hours logged on the simulator for years. I started learning the Adobe suites to help make my pictures and videos better so that I could promote my favorite hobby. I hooked up with some of the local AMA RC clubs and would film their freestyle events. I loved filming these planes as much as I loved flying them.
My 5yr old son Aiden only wanted to fly drones and I was not about to spend a lot of money on something that was so silly. Youtube: How to Build race drone $300, yup… that’s me. As soon as that drone came off the ground it felt like I was flying, I was hooked. My videos just got a lot better and overnight. I was filming everything from trees in a park, empty parking lots at night to moving trains in the woods. I wanted to up my skills so I joined a local multi GP group and started racing. That is where I met John.
